Some of the UK’s best success stories were #MadeInStateSchool. We’re putting red plaques on state school gates to show our country’s state school proud children, students and professionals that they have just as much right to achieve. And we want you to tell us who should get one.
Our community has curated a list of state school icons from the arts, sport and science for you to vote for using the short form below.
If you’d like to nominate someone we’ve not mentioned, don’t worry - just select ‘Other’ to submit your own suggestion.

Any state school or sixth form college in the UK can receive a plaque. Schools are welcome to nominate themselves and an alum.

We want to celebrate recognisable role models to state educated young people, whether that’s in the arts, science, sport or something we haven’t even thought of.
The campaign is ‘Made in State School’ - so naturally, we would like recipients to be state educated. -
You don’t - but if your nomination is successful, we will contact them to let them know their plaque is going up. If they decline, we will have to respect this choice.
